The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the Maldives has risen to 85 after another person has passed away today.

One Online has confirmed that a 76-year-old local woman has passed away this morning at 4 a.m. while being treated at the Emergency Room at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

With this most recent death, the total COVID-related deaths this month alone has risen to 12.

So far, 74 locals and 11 foreigners have passed away due to complications with COVID-19 in the country. They include eight Bangladeshi nationals, two Indian nationals and a Philippines national.

Maldives reported its first COVID-related death on 29 April 2020 after the death of an 83-year-old local woman.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has implemented strict measures as COVID-19 continues to spread across the country with over 1,000 new cases reported yesterday alone.
