Another COVID-19 patient has passed away in the Maldives raising the total number of COVID-related deaths in the country to 84.

One Online has learned that the most recent COVID-related death is that of a 51-year-old local woman who passed away at the emergency room at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) this morning.

So far 11 people have passed away due to COVID-19 in this May. A total of seven people passed away on Thursday alone.

With this most recent development, a total of 73 locals and 11 foreigners have passed away in the Maldives due to COVID-19. The foreigners who passed away include eight Bangladeshi nationals, a Philippines national and an Indian national.

The country first reported a COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020.
