A second COVID-19 related death has been reported in the country raising the total COVID-related deaths to 82.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has confirmed that an 81-year-old local woman being treated at the 11th Floor of Dharumavantha Hospital had passed away this afternoon at 2:46 p.m.

This marks the second COVID-related death today. The first was a 37-year-old Bangladeshi man who was in quarantine at Kaafu Atoll Maafushi.

With this most recent deaths, a total of 71 locals and 11 foreigners have passed away due to COVID-19 complications in the country.

Maldives reported its first COVID-related death on 29 April 2020.
