A new record high for daily number of COVID-19 cases have been reported today in the Maldives with 465 cases today.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 193 people in Male' area tested positive along with 242 from the atolls, 25 cases from the resorts and five cases from the safari yachts.
Today marks a new record high for daily cases with the total number of cases reaching 29,835. The figures have been high for a week now with the previous weekend recording 319 cases on Friday and 218 cases on Saturday. The past week saw 253 cases on Sunday, 328 cases on Monday, 386 cases on Tuesday, 464 cases on Wednesday and 318 cases yesterday.
In the same time frame, 72 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 24,775 with another 4,987 people still in treatment including 146 people in hospitals.
So far, there have been 73 COVID-related fatalities in the Maldives that includes 65 locals, six Bangladeshi nationals along with a Philippines national and an India national.
