Laamu Atoll Dhanbidhoo has been placed under monitoring after two people who came in contact with people who tested positive at Maandhoo Fisheries Complex, has tested positive for COVID-19.

The first reported case from Maandhoo came on 23 April 2021. Since then, cases have been reported from Gan and Fonadhoo as well, both connect to Maandhoo via a causeway.

Head of the Dhanbidhoo Island Council, Ibrahim Rasheed told One Online today that the two people who tested positive at on the island are two people who works at the Fisheries Complex. And they last went to Maandhoo on Thursday.

He said that it was on the third day since their return that they were identified as coming from Maandhoo and was quarantined. But they had met a number of people on the island by then.

They were tested while in quarantine and the positive results were delivered today, according to Rasheed, and 34 people who came into contact with them has been identified so far.

From Maandhoo alone, 134 people have tested positive for COVID-19 so far.
