Laamu Atoll Maandhoo has been placed under a monitoring state after eight people from the Maandhoo Fisheries Complex tested positive for COVID-19.

Regional Hospital at Laamu Fan said that they were confirmed positive after being tested for exhibiting symptoms and the contact tracing procedure is currently underway. The hospital also advised all islands in the atoll to be vigilant.

Maandhoo is an island leased to Horizon Fisheries Private Limited. The island is connected to Fonadhoo and Kahdhoo via causeway and has a large working population of both locals and expatriates.
