Dr. Ahmed Shaheed has said that the high number of people testing positive from the random samples being collected on the roads are a concern.

Speaking at the Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) press conference last night, Dr. Shaheed said that people testing positive with symptoms are still at a high rate however, that number is lower compared to last month.

He said that the number of cases are still alarmingly high, especially those being tested positive from random samples.

Dr. Shaheed said that the active surveillance positivity rate has gone up last week and the flu positivity rate is still high.

He said that they are working on improving the situation with measures without going to a lock down. And so, the technical team has decided to continue with the measures currently in place.
