A Maldivian has passed away due to COVID-19, raising the total COVID-deaths in the country to 61.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that last night at 00:22 am, an 80-year-old Maldivian female admitted at HMF had passed away. They added that this becomes the 61st COVID death in the country.

With this, the total number of COVID deaths in the country is currently at 54 locals and seven foreigners that include nationals from Bangladeshi and Philippines.

The first reported COVID-19 death in the country was on 29 April 2020 after an 83-year-old woman passed away.
