The total number of COVID-19 recoveries has surpassed 17,000.
A total of 133 people has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours raising the total number of cases in the Maldives to 19,479.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) has said from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, a total of 17,002 people have recovered from COVID-19 after another 164 people have recovered from the illness.
Statistics from the HPA also show that there are 2,410 active cases with there are 162 people being treated at hospitals.
In the same 24-hour period, 117 people tested positive for COVID-19 from the Male’ Area along with four people from the atolls and 12 people from the resorts in operation.
There has been a spike in daily COVID cases since last week the daily figures above 100 despite the low number of cases in December 2020.
So far, there have been 60 COVID-related fatalities in the Maldives that includes 53 locals, six Bangladeshi nationals and Philippine national.
