Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo has been resumed to a state of normalcy after lifting the state of monitoring on the island.

The island was put under monitoring by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) after a person who was in contact with the person who tested positive in Addu City, tested positive while in Thinadhoo.

Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) said that the monitoring status was lifted after all random samples tested on the island came back negative.

The island was also put under monitoring by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) on 3 February after two people who visited the island under the special permit tested positive for COVID-19. However, after a review, on 5 February the HPA declared that it has been decided that there is no longer a reason to keep the island under monitoring.
