A Maldivian has passed away due to COVID-19, raising the total COVID-deaths in the country to 58.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that today early morning at 03:17 am, a 59-year-old Maldivian female taken to IGMH ER in unresponsive state was declared dead. They added that this becomes the 58th COVID death in the country.

This also brings the total deaths in the past 24 hours to 2.

With this, the total number of COVID deaths in the country is currently at 51 locals and seven foreigners that include nationals from Bangladeshi and Philippines.

The first reported COVID-19 death in the country was on 29 April 2020 after an 83-year-old woman passed away.
