A Maldivian has passed away due to COVID-19 related complications, raising the total COVID-deaths in the country to 52.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that today at 7:33 pm, an 88-year-old Maldivian male admitted at Hulhumale' Medical Facility has passed away. They added that this becomes the 52nd COVID death in the country.

With this, the total number of COVID deaths in the country is currently at 45 locals and seven foreigners that include nationals from Bangladeshi and Philippines.

The first reported COVID-19 death in the country was on 29 April 2020 after an 83-year-old woman passed away.
