Regulations have been changed so that starting today, every person traveling to the islands from Male’ area would have to quarantine.

A directive issued by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) last night signed by the Director General of Public Health, Maimoona Abubakr, ordered that those traveling from the city to other islands have to quarantine for ten days while those who come to the city have to quarantine for ten days starting from Friday with tourists being the exception.

Along with the new travel regulation, HPA has also implemented a curfew from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. the Male’ City area along with a ban of public gathering such as parties and ceremonies.

Meanwhile, yesterday confirmed 83 positive cases from the Gaafu Alifu Dhevvadhoo cluster along with nine cases in Meemu Atoll Kolhufushi. And so far it is unclear how COVID-19 got to these islands.

And a person who arrived in Male’ on Monday from Alifu Alifu Thoddoo also tested positive placing the island under monitoring,
