Public gatherings such as parties and ceremonies have been banned in the Male’ City area yet again.
A directive issued by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) last night signed by the Director General of Public Health, Maimoona Abubakr, ordered a curfew from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. as a new curfew time has been established in the Male’ City area along with banning public gatherings.
And starting today, those traveling from the city to other islands have to quarantine for ten days while those who come to the city have to quarantine for ten days starting from Friday with tourists being the exception.
HPA have implemented strict measures after a spike of daily reported cases of COVID-19 in the city with over 1,500 cases this his month alone.
The capital city has seen numerous curfews amid the COVID-19 pandemic the long curfews since March 2020 were shorten late last year and finally lifted entirely on 18 December.
