A Maldivian has passed away at Dharumavantha Hospital due to COVID-19 related complications, raising the total COVID-deaths in the country to 51.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that today at 04:27 pm, an 86-year-old Maldivian male admitted at DH11 has passed away. They added that this becomes the 51st COVID death in the country.

With this, the total number of COVID deaths in the country is currently at 44 locals and seven foreigners that include nationals from Bangladeshi and Philippines.

The first reported COVID-19 death in the country was on 29 April 2020 after an 83-year-old woman passed away.
