An expatriate teacher in quarantine at Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo has tested positive for COVID-19.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that the teacher was in quarantine after arriving from abroad and was tested positive on the sample taken before releasing from quarantine.

The total number of reported COVID-19 cases in the Maldives is now at 14,513 with 917 people in treatment and 114 of those are active cases.

Statistics from the HPA show 69 people being treated at the hospitals while 49 people have passed away due to COVID-related complications in the Maldives. They are 42 locals, six Bangladeshi nationals and a Philippine national.
