Over 18,000 tourists have visited the Maldives in the first six days of the year 2021.

The latest statistics from the Tourism Ministry show a total of 18,360 tourists visiting the Maldives in the first six days of the year.

On 1 January, 2,005 tourists visited the Maldives followed by 4,160 tourists on 2 January. The following day recorded 4,195 tourists, 2,646 tourists the next day. And 2,672 tourists visited the Maldives on 5 January and 2,408 tourists on 6 January.

Tourism Ministry statistics also show that the highest number of tourists that visited the Maldives in the first week of the year were from Russia with 5,331 visitors. The second highest number of tourists is from India with 1,816 tourists followed by 1,779 tourists from the UK.

A total of 555,399 tourists visited the Maldives in 2020 according to the Tourism Ministry statistics.
