Tourism Minister Mohamed Ameen has stated that Naagoashi Resort in Haa Dhaalu Atoll can be brought into operation within 11 months.
Answering a question posed by an individual at the 9th "Ahaa" forum held tonight, the minister stated that 55 percent of the work on the Naagoashi development project has been completed.
"If I speak in terms of percentages, over 55 percent of the total work is now completed. Although the work was progressing with the aim of opening in November of this year, as I mentioned, God willing, the place can be brought into operation in about 11 months," the minister said.
Physical work on developing Naagoashi Resort began last August during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's visit to Haa Dhaalu Atoll. The government assigned the stalled Naagoashi project to the Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC).
Haa Dhaalu Atoll is among the few atolls where tourism remains undeveloped. The government's goal is to expand tourism in regions that currently lack it, such as Haa Dhaalu Atoll.
