Immigration has decided to issue Work Visa to expatriates on Business Visa and Special Visa under Employment Approval.

An announcement made by the Maldives Immigration said that since the international borders are closed amid the COVID-19 pandemic and preventing travel, they are set to issue work visa to foreigners in the Maldives on Business Visa and Special Visa.

However, the work visa will be issued to those who are in the Maldives with a valid visa.

And so, those who wish to change their visa status to a work visa need to have entered the country before 1 December 2020 while those with a Special Visa need to be employed in the Maldives, including those brought in by Club Associations and Organizations.

Immigration said that the foreigners who wish to change the visa status under employment approval can do so within the regulation until 30 June 2021.
