National airline of Bahrain, Gulf Air, has resumed its flights to the Maldives.

The airline previously said that they would be operating two flights a week between Bahrain and the Maldives until January.

Gulf Air initially began its flights to the Maldives in October 2019 with an A321 Airbus that seats 200 passengers but later changed to Boeing 787 planes with a capacity of 300 passengers due to high demand.

The airline currently flies to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait, Jeddah, Medina, Muscat, Cairo, London, Paris, Athens, Manila and Dakha along with destinations in India and Pakistan.

With the Gulf Air starting flights, they would become the fifth airline from the Middle East to begin flights to the Maldives since its border reopening. The first airlines to resume flights to the Maldives in July are Qatar Airways and Emirates with three flights a day.

A number of Middle East airlines have increased flights to the Maldives due to high demand since they resumed flights.
