State airline of Bahrain, Gulf Air, is set to start flights to the Maldives on 12 December 2020.

The airline said that they would be starting with two flights a week between Bahrain and the Maldives. And they will be using the Airbus A321neo planes that has 150 seats in economy and 16 flatbed seats in Falcon Gold.

Gulf Air initially began flights to the Maldives in October 2019 is currently flying to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait, Jeddah, Muscat, Cairo, London, Paris, Athens, Manila and Dakha along with various locations in India and Pakistan.

With the Gulf Air resuming flights, they would become the fifth airline from the Middle East to start flights to the Maldives since the country reopened its borders amid the COVID-19 crisis.

Airlines currently flying to the Maldives from the Middle East include Emirates, Ithihad Airways, Qatar Airways and FlyDubai.
