Where the readers were given a chance to vote across almost 50 categories, which includes Best Country, Best Wedding Destination and Best Emerging Destinations.
Maldives received the Best Partner of 2020 Award and the Golden Fliggy Award at Fliggy’s annual awards ceremony.

With the reopening of Maldives borders and establishment of the travel bubble between India and Maldives, Indian arrivals have been growing in an upward trend. Currently the Indian market is the second largest source market in terms of arrivals to Maldives. To strengthen the growth and increase the market share, Visit Maldives has been conducting several marketing activities in this market such as Radio campaign, familiarization trips and participating in virtual events.
And China was the biggest source market for the Maldives. It is projected that the number of arrivals from China will increase exponentially once China allows for travel to Maldives. In January 2020, a total of 31,744 tourist arrivals were recorded from this market which was a 23 percent growth compared to the same period last year.
Visit Maldives is currently conducting several marketing activities in order to continue this growth for when Chinese outbound travel resumes once again. These include several digital campaigns on Weibo and WeChat, Outdoor Campaigns in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, organizing online roadshow, several Media interviews, China travel trade portal on WeChat, more social media promotions, and several other marketing campaigns for the China Market.
Visit Maldives said that these achievements from both Markets show the demand for travel to Maldives and would help boost tourist arrivals from both countries.
