The total number of COVID-19-related deaths in the Maldives has risen to 41 after a local dies from the illness.
Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) said that today at 02:38pm, a 45-year-old Maldivian female admitted at HMF ICU has passed.
As this most recent death marks a total of 41 COVID-related deaths in the country, 34 locals and seven foreigners have passed away from the illness in the Maldives. They are five Bangladeshi nationals and a man from Philippines.
The first reported death of COVID-19 in the Maldives was an 83-year-old woman on 29 April 2020.
As of yesterday, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country are at 12,009 with 225 people in isolation facilities and 52 people being treated at the hospitals. And 11,132 people have recovered from the illness.
