The total number of COVID-19-related deaths in the Maldives has risen to 40 after a Bangladeshi dies from the illness.

Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) said that a 43-year-old Bangladeshi male brought in unresponsive state to Hulhumale Hospital today morning was declared dead on arrival; at 7:25am.

As this most recent death marks a total of 40 COVID-related deaths in the country, 33 locals and seven foreigners have passed away from the illness in the Maldives. They are six Bangladeshi nationals and a man from Philippines.

As of yesterday, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country are at 11,986 with 11,092 people have recovered from the illness.
