National State of Health Emergency has been extended to 5 December 2020.

Under the Authority of the Health Minister under the General Health Protection Act, a National State of Health Emergency was declared for 30 days on 12 March 2020 amidst he COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the national health emergency has been extended numerous times with the latest extension set on 6 October is set to expire today.

Health Minister, Ahmed Naseem signed the declaration today stating that the threat of COVID-19 still exists and the Director General of Health agrees that special action needs to be taken to minimize the risk to the public.

And so, the Health Emergency State declared on 12 March of this year has been extended to 5 December.

The declaration also ordered to take the necessary steps to ensure public health under the General Health Protection Act after reviewing the current state.
