Attempted theft of MVR 5 million which was being transported to be deposited at the bank has been foiled by a security guard.

The attempted theft occurred in front of Bank of Ceylion (BOC) from a vehicle that was transporting money of Root. As per videos circulating on social media, the theft was attempted by four men who came in a motorcycle.

The video covers the road to the entrance of BOC, showing four men wearing long-sleeved black shirts and pants, as well as masks and helmets, close to the van used to transport money on two motorcycles as it parks in front of the branch, before assaulting the workers from Root and trying to grab the cardboard box.

Root revealed to "One" that due to the ongoing investigation, Maldives Police Service has requested them from sharing any additional information. As such, they did not reveal the exact amount of money in the box.

However, "One" has learned that MVR 5 million was in the box.

Police is currently investigating the case further.
