The decision has been taken by the Elections Commission of Maldives to change the color and logo of the Commission.
Spokesperson of the Elections Commission Mr. Ahmed Akram had previously inquired via an image of the logo posted on his Twitter whether changes should be made to the color and logo of the Elections Commission. He had also indicated that the logo needs to be further perfected.
In an interview given to One Online, Akram has stated today that the idea of changing the color and design of the logo of the Elections Commission has been circulating for the past two years and that the official plans are only underway right now.
He said “A lot of people have expressed their critique regarding the logo and members of the Commission decided to change the design and color of the logo after taking these critiques into consideration”. According to Akram, changes to the logo will be made public in the month of January 2019.
The Chairman of the Elections Commission, Mr. Ahmed Shareef had previously stated that the same color as the Elections Commission logo cannot be used as the official color of a political party. This was said following the formation of a new political party PNC (People’s National Congress) by former President Abdullah Yameen where the same color was used as the party color.
