A special operation is set to begin to ensure that businesses and common service centers are following the guidelines of the Health Protection Agency (HPA) amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

HPA issued a statement yesterday saying that HPA would be working with the relvant government institutes on a special operation starting on Tuesday to ensure the businesses and other places are following the health and safety guidelines. And action would be taken against those who are in violation of the guidelines.

And so, the first offense would result in closing the business for 48 hours and would receive the permit to reopen after the guidelines are met.

The second offence would face a fine of MVR 1000 and would not be allowed to operate for three days. Continual repeat of guidelines would face a fine of the same amount but would not be allowed to operate for five days.

HPA said that after the initial inspection, any violation or complaint regarding COVID-19 is raised against a business, they would face maximum fine.
