The total number of COVID-19-realated deaths in the Maldives has risen to 24 after a 41-year-old Maldivian woman dies due to complications with the illness.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that the woman passed away in 9:34 a.m. this morning while undergoing treatment while being admitted at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

So far, 19 locals and five foreigners have died in the Maldives due to COVID-19 that includes four Bangladeshi nationals and a man from Philippines.

The first recorded COVID-related death was that of an 83-year-old woman on 29 April 2020.

With a total of 5,785 cases of COVID-19 in the country, 3,349 people have recovered while 2,414 in treatment with 146 people being treated at hospitals.
