The number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives has risen to 3,793 after 74 more tested positive for the illness in the past 24 hours.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 44 Maldivians have tested positive along with 19 Bangladeshi nationals, eight Indian nationals, a Nepalese national, a Philippine national and a Sri Lankan national.
HPA said that among those under treatment, 39 people have recovered in the same time period raising the number of total recoveries in the country to 2,607. There are 1,155 people still in treatment in the Maldives.
Information released by the HPA show that the quarantine facilities are empty but there are 709 people at the isolation facilities.
Currently, there are active cases in H.A. Kelaa, R. Inguraidhoo, B. Eydhafushi, B. Kamadhoo. Lh. Kurendhoo, Lh. Hinnavaru, K. Maafushi and V. Fulidhoo.
In the Maldives, 16 people have passed away due to complications with COVID-19 which includes 11 Maldivians, four Bangladeshi nationals, a man from Philippines. The deceased include nine elderly Maldivians.
