After an 80-year-old Maldivian has passed away due to complications with COVID-19, the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the country has risen to 12.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that the Maldivian man passed away at 4:35 a.m. this morning while being treated at the 11th floor of Dharumavantha Hospital.

This is the second COVID-19 related death in the past two days. Yesterday, a 77-year-old Maldivian woman passed away at hospital. A 92-year-old Maldivian passed away on Thursday; the oldest person to pass away due to COVID-19 in the Maldives.

While 2,468 people have tested positive in the country, 2,049 people have recovered with 403 people still in treatment.
