Maldives Police Service has made an arrest in connection to the pregnancy of a 17-year-old girl.

It was revealed that the pregnancy of a 17-year-old girl was reported from an island in the jurisdiction of the Central Police Division.

Police said that they arrested a 23-year-old local man today with a court order. So far there have been no details as to where the arrest took place.

Previously, police have said that the case is being investigated as a child rape case by a team from the Crime Against Children Department and the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services.
