Sri Lanka has put 1200 people into medical quarantine for not wearing masks in public places.
While the country has lifted some restrictions of the COVID-19 lock down, the authorities have ordered that masks be worn at public places for the safety of everyone. They have also advised against public gatherings as there is a risk of another outbreak.
And so, the Sri Lankan government has announced that those who does not wear masks at public places needs to go into self-quarantine.
Sri Lankan police has started gathering information of individuals who are not wearing masks at public places and started quarantining them from that date.
So far, 1200 people have been quarantined for violating this regulation.
Police in Sri Lanka has said that they would seek strict legal repercussions for violating the mask regulation.
