Maldives on Saturday reported the eighth COVID-19 death in the country.

NEOC Spokesperson Mabrook Azeez confirmed to One Online that an eighth person had died of COVID-19 and added that the Health Protection Agency (HPA) will reveal further details.

One has learnt that the patient was a Bangladeshi patient who was being treated at IGMH Hospital. The patient has since been buried.

Previous COVID-19 deaths include three Bangladeshis and four Maldivians. With this, the total number of deaths in the country now stands at 8.
