Health Protection Agency (HPA) has said that another 34 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives raising the total number of cases in the country to 1547.

The HPA said that the newly confirm cases consists of 12 locals, 21 Bangladeshi nationals and an Indian national.

The highest number of cases in the country have been found among the expatriate community in the country; especially those from Bangladeshi. So far, 806 Bangladeshi nationals have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives along with 541 locals. The other cases in the country consists of 150 Indian nationals, 23 Nepalese nationals, 11 Italian nationals, nine Sri Lankan nationals and three Pakistani nationals along with four others from other countries.

Maldives has seen 242 COVID-19 recoveries with five fatalities that consists of two Bangladeshi nationals and three elderly Maldivians.
