Tree Top Hospital has said that their facilities in Hulhumalé have been given for state use for three months during which time the owners will be spending MVR 20 million every month.
Speaking at the NEOC press conference today, the CEO of Tree Top Hospital, David Fabian said that the hospital has been turned into the national COVID treatment center on Wednesday and stopped the services to the public.
He said that decision to offer the hospital to help the COVID-19 situation was made by the board of directors of the hospital and it was a decision made to provide a service to the public.
And so, the hospital has been given to the government for three months along with the team at the hospital. During this time, most of the expenses of the hospital will be managed by the shareholders of the hospital including staff salaries that amounts to MVR 20 million per month.
The CEO of Tree Top Hospital said that it is also the responsibility of the government to acquire other resources required to the hospital including medical equipment and medication for patients.
He said that the government has agreed to add more staff if required in addition to those currently at the hospital. And the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has agreed to manage the hospital’s utilities costs.
