After a Maldivian national brought to the capital Malé City from Addu City tests positive for COVID-19, it has now been believed that the illness is spreading in Addu City as well.
Addu City Mayor, Abdulla Sodhiq, (Sobe) has confirmed the information to Online Online today.
He said that an inquiry so far has found that the person traveled to Addu City on 30 April from the resort he works at, Anatara.
One Online has learned that the person was working at Anantra Dhigu Maldives Resort where two Italian nationals were confirmed for COVID-19 in March 2020. And the person went to the resort before it went under lock down on 10 March.
Sources say that the person who tested positive is a 41-year-old man from Maradhoo-Feydhoo, Addu City who was being treated at the Addu Equatorial Hospital since yesterday afternoon following a heart attack. And when his condition got worse, he was transferred to the capital on emergency and was confirmed for COVID-19 this morning.
