One Online has learned that a person who tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives has passed away. Sources say that the person was dead on arrival at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital earlier this evening.

The deceased is an 83-year-old local woman, being treated for an illness for a long time, who was identified through contact tracing. Hence samples were collected and was confirmed for COVID-19 after her death.

Speaking at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) press conference, Health Minister, Abdulla Ameen said that the deceased I 83-year-old Aminath Adam and sent his condolences to the family and friends.

Minister Ameen said that the 83-year-old is connected to Case126 and some of the family have also tested positive. And the sample was collected for tested on 27 April.

He said that she was taken to the hospital at dusk after reporting breathing difficulties.
