The total number of people confirmed for COVID-19 has risen to 177 after 36 people tests positive.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced early morning that the most recent 36 people consists of six Maldivians, 29 Bangladeshi nationals and one person of Indian nationality. And while 30 of them live in the same household, they are all now being transferred to an isolation facility.
This is the highest number of people to test positive altogether in the Maldives. And so, it is the highest number of people to test positive in one day in the Maldives. In the past 24 hours, 45 people positive for the illness have been found in the Maldives.
Maldives currently have 177 reported case of COVID-19 with most of the cases being from the capital, Male’ City and 17 people recovered so far.
The government have taken strong measures against the spread of the illness by putting the whole country under lock down with the general public ordered to stay indoors.
