Bank of Maldives (BML) has advised its customers to be vigilant when doing online transactions.

The bank said that during the lock down amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the public is dependent on deliveries from the shops and a number of businesses are adverting their delivery services on social media pages.

However, there are pages created for the purpose of scamming potential customers. And so, BML has urged their customers to be cautious of pages and posts posing as essential delivery services that require a transfer of funds.

“Only order food, grocery and other essentials from commonly known sources or from the official channels of listed businesses.” BML said.

Since the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in the Maldivian capital on 15 April 2020, the Male’ City area has been under a state of lock down where the general public is banned from the streets unless with a special permit.
