Dr. Fathimath Nazla Rafeeq has urged the public to provide accurate information to the contact tracing process at the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) press conference.

She said that a total of 305 people were found via contact tracing of the first three confirmed cases of COVID-19in Male’ City and 157 of those people had direct contact and 148 people had secondary contact. And that samples are being collected from these people for testing.

Dr. Nazla said that during the contact tracing process, everyone should give true information and that every minute without accurate information is a wasted minute that could infect another person.

When a new case is identified, contact tracing is initiated as quickly as possible according to Dr. Nazla and without that information, it causes obstructions to the work of the doctors.

So far, eight people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldivian capital.
