After direct contact with the first person confirmed positive for COVID-19 in Male’ City, 14 people have been placed in isolation after they showed symptoms of the illness.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) tweeted that 14 people have been isolated at the Hulhule’ Isolation Facility with symptoms of the illness and they all were in direct contact with the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in the Maldivian capital.

Last night, two more cases were people were tested positive for COVID-19 in Male’ City; one of them was the son of the initial patient. Authorities took samples for testing from ten people who were in direct contact with the first confirmed case and they all tested negative for the illness.

The alert level in the Maldivian capital has been raised after declaring a lock down and announcing a community spread of the illness.

During the lock down, the public is ordered to stay indoors and no vessels are allowed to depart from the city.
