Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that the Maldivian capital, Male’ City is under a state of lock down.
A statement from the HPA said that a 24-hour lock down is being implemented after a local living in the city has tested positive for COVID-19. And during this lock down, going out on the streets is prohibited.
The statement said that the 24 hours of the lock begins from the moment the statement is issued.
Steps to be taken under lock down:
- Ban all vehicles and pedestrians from the roads of Male’, Vilimale’ and Hulhumale’
- Suspend public transportation services in Male’, Vilimale’ and Hulhumale’
- Ban travel between Thilafushi, Male’, Vilimale’ and Hulhumale’
However, vehicles and personnel of the security forces, medical services and those with clearance from the National Emergency Operation Center.
According to the HPA statement, under exceptional cases and the special regulations set by the Director General of Health, procedures will be carried out by those set regulations.
HPA said that under this lock down situation, the implementation of the order will be carried out by the Maldives Police Service.
