The Presidential Commission formed to investigate child abuse cases has said that there a number of things that needs to be corrected at the children’s orphanage.
After making a visit to the orphanage, the Commission made the remark in a statement issued by the commission signed by President of the Commission, Aafiya Ali.
The commission formed by the President on 20 February 2020 issued the statement last night stating that the commission visited the orphanage on 10 and 11 of this April and saw that there are things that needs to be improved immediately in regards to general cleanliness, security and services offered to the children.
And so, a special report has been prepared for the relevant authorities where 34 things that need to be corrected have been listed.
While the report has been presented to the President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the Commission said that the President assured that the things noted in the report will be implemented.
The commission said that they are also visiting the relevant institutes to discuss the responsibilities of protecting children and reviewing the regulations and standards in dealing with cases that involve children.
