The number of COVID-19 positive cases in India is close to 10,000 at 9200 according to statistic from the Indian Health Ministry.
The statistics show that 796 people were tested positive for the illness in the past 24 hours alone.
According to the latest statistics, the Indian state of Maharashtra has the highest number of cases with 1985. The second highest number of cases is in the Indian capital, New Delhi with 1154 cases while the Tamil Nadu state with 1075 followed by 772 cases in Rajasthan and 564 cases in Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, 516 cases have been reported from Gujrat state and 504 cases in Telangana. One of the Indian states most frequented by Maldivians, Kerala has reported cases close to 400.
Over 300 people have died from the illness in India while 850 people have been treated back to good health.
The lock-down period in India is set to expire this Tuesday, although not formally announced, media outlets in India have reported that the lock-down is going to be extended to the end of the month according to officials.
