Health Protection Agency (HPA) has said that a local at the Eriyadhoo Quarantine Facility has tested positive for COVID-19.

The HPA said that the person was in quarantine after returning from the Philippines and now has been transferred to the Isolation Facility in Velidhoo.

With this latest development, the number of Maldivians who has tested positive in the Maldives have gone up to five with the total number of people tested positive in the Maldives have gone up to 20.

Speaking at the National Emergency Operation Center press conference last night, Dr. Muraad said that 19 people were released from quarantine yesterday and another 80 people is being tested before their release. And if there are no positive tests, they will be released today or tomorrow.

As of last night, 2612 people have been tested for COVID-19 in the Maldives and 2507 samples have tested negative and 86 samples are pending results according to the HPA.
