Senior doctor at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), Dr. Ibrahim Afzal has advised shopkeepers to use gloves when interacting with customers.
At the National Emergency Operation Center press conference last night on the COVID-19 situation in the Maldives, Dr. Afzal said that a business contingency has be made and ensure the safety of the employees and implement social distancing when conducting trades.
He said that the curfew is being enforced for the good of everyone and if the shops are being crowded after the curfew, there is no need for it.
And if the current precautions in effect are being ignored, the situation could get worse putting more people at risk.
Dr. Afzal said that seasonal illnesses such as dengue and diarrhea are always there and the public needs to be vigilant of those illnesses as well. And so, a special attention need to be given to general cleanliness.
