Health Protection Agency (HPA) has declared a curfew in the Male’ City, Hulhumale’ and Vilimale’ banning vehicle and foot traffic on the roads.
A statement issued by the HPA signed by the Director General of Public Health, Mainoon Abubakuru said that the curfew will be in effect from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Male’ area starting from 2 April 2020.
During the curfew, public transportation services, (the bus and ferry services,) are ordered to be suspended. And gatherings of more than three people are banned at all times by the statement.
However, some services have the permit to be out on the streets during the curfew hours according to the HPA. They are:
- Security and Law Enforcement agents and their vehicles
- Health services employees and their vehicles
- WAMCO uniformed employees and their vehicles
- Employees of Ooredoo, Dhiraagu, STO, STELCO, MWSC and the banks
- Vehicles with government plates
- Diplomatic vehicles
- Ambulance
- NEOC permit holders
- Pharmacy employees and their vehicles
