Tour operators have been banned from sending tourists to the Maldivian capital, Male’ City on excursions.
The decision was made as a preventive measure against COVID-19 Corona Virus under the authority of the Director General of Public Health.
A statement issued by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that tourists from resorts, guesthouses, safaris and hotels are all banned from sending tourists to Male’ City.
Yesterday, HPA banned tourist excursions to inhabited islands and excursions from inhabited islands to tourist safari and resorts.
So far there have been eight confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives; all foreigners either working or visiting resorts.
