National Emergency Operations Center has said that the samples tested for COVID-19 from the resorts Sun Aqua Iru Veli, One&Only Reethi Rah and Vilamendhoo Island Resort has come back negative.

At a press conference last night, the government spokesperson for COVID-19 situation, Mabrook Abdul Aziz said that the person in Iru Veli tested negative for the disease for now but the person is being isolated until the result of a second sample comes in.

One person was tested from One&Only Reethi Rah and Vilamendhoo Island Resort each and they both tested negative for the disease as well.

Yesterday, authorities took samples for testing from a foreigner at Anantara Dhigu resort and local who is a close contact of the COVID-19 patient found in Kuramathi Maldives. Samples were also taken from ten people in quarantine at Kuredu Island Resort after showing symptoms of the disease.

So far there have been eight confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives; all foreigners in the resorts.

Under the authority of the Health Minister, Minister Abdulla Ameen declared a 30-day national health emergency in the country.
